Furniture care
How to live with solid timber, and keep your Timberwolf piece at its best.
Caring for your Timberwolf pieces
Everyday cleaning
- Wipe timber surfaces with a warm, damp cloth, then follow with a dry one.
- Keep the timber dry where you can.
- Avoid harsh chemicals on the surface.
- If you need more than water, reach for a mild or organic spray.
- For the odd pencil or texta mark, try a plain white eraser before any cleaning agent.
Light and placement
- Avoid long spells of direct sunlight, and don't leave the piece covered for long periods; both can cause the timber to move or discolour.
- If something has sat in one spot long enough to shade the colour, simply move it and let the timber breathe. The tone settles back to where it was, though it can take weeks or months depending on how long the item was there.
The nature of solid timber
- Fine surface cracks can appear from time to time, and often close again as the seasons turn.
- Small borer holes and gum veins can also show in the timber. These are natural characteristics of solid hardwood, not faults.
Finish and re-oiling
- Your piece is finished with a hardwax oil, and should only ever be touched up or re-oiled with a hardwax oil.
- There's no routine maintenance to keep up. Re-oil only when the piece feels like it needs reviving or repair, after a long stretch of use.
Moving your piece
- Never drag your furniture. Always lift and carry it, or at the very least take the weight as you slide.
Taller pieces such as hall tables and credenzas carry a tip-over warning label. Read our furniture safety guidance.
