Ten finishes
four timbers

Every piece is built in solid hardwood, never veneer or engineered board. Most people arrive set on the timber, so the real choice is the finish: the colour and grain you’ll live with. Pick yours from the ten below.

Timberwolf timber finish samples displayed on the showroom wall.

Living with solid timber

Solid hardwood is beautiful, strong and entirely natural, so no two boards are alike and no piece matches a sample or photograph exactly. Expect variation in colour, tone, grain and texture across a single piece, along with the marks the timber arrived with.

  • Gum veins, knots, borer holes and small surface checks are part of solid hardwood, not faults.
  • Colour shifts over time. Lighter timbers darken, darker timbers lighten. American Oak Black is the only finish that holds its tone.
  • Seasonal movement (expansion and contraction with humidity) is normal, not a defect.
  • No two pieces are identical. Grain and figure differ board to board, even in the same timber.

We build with a decade of experience and the best tools we can find, for pieces that last a lifetime. There is no ‘perfect’ in a natural material. If you’re ordering for a client, please make sure they’ve read this too.
